روغن ایمرسیون
هنگام از لنز شیئی x100 در میكروسكوپ‌های نوری برای اصلاح شكست نور و ایجاد وضوح بیشتر از روغن ایمرسیون استفاده می شود. روغن ایمرسیون مستقیماً روی لام ریخته می شود و چون لنز 100 میكروسكوپ با این روغن تماس می‌یابد به آن اصطلاحاً روغن ایمرسیون گویند.
هنگام استفاده از عدسی چشمی 100 برابر در صورتی که از روغن استفاده نکنیم، ضریب شکست بالای هوا، باعث پراکنده شدن پرتوهای نور میکروسکوپ می گردد و به علت فاصله کانونی کوتاه عدسی، نور چندانی به آن نمی رسد. از آن جا که ضریب شکست روغن ایمرسیون برابر با عدسی 100 است، قرار دادن یک قطره روغن روی نمونه باعث جلوگیری از شکست و پراش نور می گردد و مانند عدسی محدب عمل می کند و در نتیجه پرتوهای نور را همگرا می کند و تصویری واضح از نمونه ارائه می دهد. همچنین استفاده از این روغن باعث می شود که عدسی چشمی 100 از نمونه فاصله گرفته و از آسیب رسیدن به نمونه و عدسی جلوگیری شود.

Immersion Oil
Immersion media are used in conjunction with immersion objectivs and are located between the surface of the specimen and the lens of the microscope. Immersion oils practically eliminate light beam deflection so that the effectiveness of the lens is considerably increased.
The 'Immersion Oil for Microscopy' is of an oily nature and has a defined refractive index of about 1,516. It is important that the refractive index (nD) is about 1.5, similar to that of glass. This enables a homogeneous oil immersion to be achieved. It is produced from a natural component and developed, certified and registered as CE / IVD product.
Immersion oils are viscous, clear liquids with brilliant refractive properties, approximating the refractive index (RI) of glass: RI = 1.5. They are applied dropwise to stained and mounted or non-mounted specimen material of human origin and form a clear film between the specimen and the microscope lens. The specimen can be viewed under the microscope without any refractive distortion, since immersion oils virtually completely eliminate the deflection of incident light and at the same time substantially enhancing the optical efficiency of the microscope lens. Supplied in the practical 100-ml dropping bottle, the immersion oil can be easily and safely dropped onto the slide without smearing. The nozzle closure ensures that the oil retains its viscosity, meaning that the immersion oil is always ready for immediate use. For many decades now this immersion oil has been in use in conjunction with oil-immersion objectives manufactured by Leica or Zeiss without any negative impact on the optical quality. An alteration of the material used to affix the front lens of the objective has never been reported. In the light of this experience, it can be justifiably assumed that the immersion oil shall also have no negative effect on objectives made by other suppliers such as Nikon or Olympus.
